SAN FRANCISCO, February 26, 2014 – Weemo, a company that enables software providers to easily embed real-time video into their applications, today announced that Centile Telecom Applications selected the Weemo Global Video Cloud to add video collaboration capabilities to Istra, its multi-tenant unified communication platform.

Centile provides its UC platform to more than 50 leading MNOs and MVNOs targeting the enterprise market. After bringing convergence for voice, messaging and presence to fixed and mobile users, Istra extends collaboration capabilities by adding video chat and screen sharing powered by the Weemo Global Video Cloud.

“Operators want to deliver a set of functionalities that compares with those proposed by the incumbents in the UC market such as Microsoft Lync.” says Bertrand Pourcelot, Managing Director of Centile Telecom Applications. “We considered several options such as building these capabilities ourselves or integrating our platform with standalone videoconferencing solutions. Eventually, Weemo turned out to be an excellent choice to integrate a turnkey cloud-based video collaboration offering.”

With Weemo, video collaboration is delivered in accordance with the “Any service, over Any network, on Any terminal” Centile’s mantra. Centile developed an HTML5 client so the service can be accessed from any device. “We wanted the video feature to be available on any endpoint” continues Bertrand Pourcelot. “Cross-browser compatibility is very important for us and even though WebRTC is a promising technology, it is confined to Chrome and Firefox. We addressed these limitations thanks to the Weemo Client that allows users to video chat from any browser.”

The time-to-market was also a key factor in Centile’s decision to partner with Weemo. “Rather than implementing a heavy and expensive video bridge in its platform, Centile used our APIs to connect their platform to the Weemo Global Video Cloud.” says Thomas Cottereau, CEO of Weemo. “Centile opens the door to a new era of UC hybrid solutions where users can join a videoconference with a single click from a web client and benefit from optimized routing wherever they are in the world.”

The video and screen sharing integrations into Centile’s UC Platform are being showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2014 until February 27th in the hall 5, booth #5J08.
